Greening the Building
We are working hard to reduce our environmental footprint here at the SCP Centre, by improving our heating efficiency, reducing electrical load, and making efficiencies where possible. This is a process that will take years, but we are working hard on making the SCP Centre an example of the possibilities in retrofitting older buildings to new green standards. Some examples of our work include:
Our largest investment has been in a brand new roof membrane, which has been a four year phased project. We are investing in the building, to ensure the roof is solid and the building will last for many more years. The 246 kW of solar power on the roof harnesses the sun's power to produce green energy all year long, this fits nicely with our upgrades to make the building more efficient, reduce our use of gas, and electricity and overall reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.
With ambitions to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and aiming for net zero by 2030, we are pushing what can be done for existing older commercial/industrial buildings. We have a building that would be a good test case for new technology or innovative ideas. If you are a green tech or other innovative business interested in making Southern Georgian Bay your home or just a greener place for future generations, consider joining us at the SCP Centre, or bring us your ideas.

"The owners of this building have been very accommodating of our business as we continue to grow,
have always been pleasant to work with, and are always very reasonable when negotiating our options
for taking on additional space. Continued upgrades and improvements to the building have had a direct
positive impact on our business. We're very thankful to have found such an ideal location for our
business, right in the heart of Meaford."
